About every 6 months or so we get the grand-girls together...Presley (10), Olivia (6) and Sophia (5) - this was recorded around America's 250th Celebration. Yes, the monkeys are let loose - be forewarned that they are not professionals and often get too close to the mic...but, this a moment etched in history.  Enjoy!

Freedom is easy to celebrate until you slow down and ask a child what it actually means. Sister Diahanna sits down with the Gran-Girls, Sophia, Olivia, and Presley, plus Sister Audia, for our summer hangout that starts with pure Fourth of July joy: fireworks, family time, and the little moments that make summer break feel magical.

Then the conversation turns deeper in a way only kids can do, simple words that hit hard. We talk about freedom of worship, the gift of being able to pray and go to church openly, and the sobering truth that many believers around the world face persecution for doing those same things. We also share why we support children through Compassion International and how faith should move us toward real compassion, not just talk.

From there, we lighten it up with back-to-school excitement, making new friends, and the ultimate childhood goal: getting your own room. If you’ve ever navigated sibling drama, privacy, or teaching gratitude in a busy home, you’ll recognize the humor and the heart. We wrap with what the girls love most right now, a sweet nod to family and Mexican heritage (and the food), plus a quick Michael Jackson moment that brings the whole table to life.

Subscribe for more faith-based family conversations, share this with a friend who’s raising kids, and leave a review with your favorite takeaway. What does freedom mean to you today? (*Recorded on 7/9/2026)

I would love your feedback and topic suggestions!

Welcome And Meet The Green Girls

SPEAKER_00

Thank you so much for joining me on this journey today. Can we be a real ship? It's not always easy. So let me just be a smack. Let's open the word and see what Jesus has to say today. Hey, welcome to Sybil Sampleship Unfiltered. I'm your host, Sister Diane, and we have a very special episode today because we're joined by the Green Girls. How y'all doing? We have Sophia. Say hello. Hello. Hello. Say hello to Olivia. Hello. You don't have to get that close. And we say hello to Presley. Hi. Hey. And we're joined by Sister Audia. How are y'all doing? Hey. We're all good. Everybody good? Yes. Yes. So this is our seemingly annual girls thing where we've had you guys for a few days this summer so that y'all can just celebrate being together. Because I know that Sophie and Olivia just love Presley, right?

SPEAKER_04

Mm-hmm. Why?

SPEAKER_00

Oh yeah. Why? She's the best. Oh. What does she do that you like so much?

SPEAKER_03

She played by you with me. Barbies? Okay.

SPEAKER_00

And what about you, Olivia? She sits next to me at breakfast. Yeah, she sits next to you. They really love you, Presley. So thank you for coming and and bearing with them uh for the last few days. How you doing? Good. Yeah. Are you glad to be out for the summer?

SPEAKER_04

Mm-hmm.

SPEAKER_00

You ready to go back to school? Kind of. Kinda. I know you like school. So what grade are you gonna be in?

Summer Catch-Up And Grades

SPEAKER_00

Fifth. Fifth? Olivia, what grade are you going in? First. And baby?

SPEAKER_03

Kindergarten.

SPEAKER_00

Kindergarten. So it's gonna be so fun. So fun. Alright. So what did we just celebrate a couple days ago? Uh the fourth of July. We sure did. And what did you like the most about the Fourth of July? Fireworks. Fireworks? Alright. So where did you see fireworks?

SPEAKER_03

Well, we celebrated that 4th of July.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, but where where did you see it?

SPEAKER_03

At the car show.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, he went to the car show at the time.

SPEAKER_03

And we saw it on the cars.

SPEAKER_00

He did. There were some cool cars, weren't there?

SPEAKER_03

Those big cars too.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah. What about you, Olivia? What did you see?

SPEAKER_03

We s we did fireworks at the house in Canton.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, because you're outside the city, so you get to you get to pop those. What about you? What did you do Presley for the court?

SPEAKER_02

I went to my grandma's and she got an inflatable like water slice.

SPEAKER_00

Oh, how fun. Do you enjoy that? Mm-hmm. That was a that was a good day. That was a good day. Okay, so what is if we say freedom, what does freedom mean to you?

SPEAKER_03

That you get to go free with the animals.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, what else?

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, free with the animals. Yeah. Run free and happy that it's the fourth of July.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah. And what about you, Presley? What does freedom to mean to you?

SPEAKER_01

Anything. What do you get to do every Sunday? Go to Go to church? Yeah, go to church. You get to pray. Mm-hmm.

Fourth Of July Highlights

SPEAKER_01

Even with and nobody can stop you, right? Mm-hmm.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, do y'all realize that there's people all over the world that they don't have that freedom to worship God, to go to church, to read a Bible, to sing a song to Jesus?

SPEAKER_01

That when they do that, they get beheaded.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

They get their heads cut off.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, or they just you know, some type of death. They're not they don't survive that. But they want to so much to love the Lord that they they take that, make that sacrifice. So you, because you live in the great United States of America and you live in the great state of Texas, you have freedom to do that still. You have freedom to worship the Lord freely. You have freedom to go to school. There's a lot of kids around the world that don't even get to go to school. You know, we talk about our kids that we help, you know, every month with Compassion International. We we do support them highly. And we have children that are my my two kids are in Kenya, uh Naaman, and then Seleomi. No, Seleomi is in Sri Lanka. And so they just had a big typhoon storm out there, and so their little village got kind of destroyed, but she's okay. But the point is that we live in this America, the United States, we get to celebrate things that people around the world don't get to do. Not everybody gets to do that.

SPEAKER_01

And for you girls, I just want you to understand how lucky you are and how blessed you are to live here. There are countries that girls aren't allowed to go to school. They're not allowed to learn to read. They're not allowed to keep a job, they only get to stay home and have kids.

SPEAKER_00

Do you know why? Because they're girls.

SPEAKER_01

Because they're just because they're girls.

SPEAKER_00

Just because they're girls. Some countries don't allow girls to do anything. But I wanna just kind of switch to a different thing because we're getting a little dark here. But uh when we talk about freedom, what's your favorite thing, baby, as a five-year-old girl? What's your favorite thing to do and to play?

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, I get to the handstand.

SPEAKER_00

You get to what? Talk like big talk.

SPEAKER_03

Do a handstand.

SPEAKER_00

Do a handstand?

SPEAKER_03

I mean, that's pretty cool.

SPEAKER_00

I mean, that's that's pretty fun. What about you, Olivia?

SPEAKER_03

I can't wait to have my own room.

SPEAKER_00

I know.

SPEAKER_03

When I can get ten.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, when you're ten. The rule they have room at their house. Everybody has can have a room, but they have she has to be ten first before she can have her own room.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

And prove that she's responsible. And baby has to prove she's responsible for

What Freedom Means To Kids

SPEAKER_00

her own room, right? Not yet. She don't want to, she don't want the freedom of day.

SPEAKER_03

I can't like my own room and sleep without her snoring and peeing herself.

SPEAKER_00

Oh my gosh. How about you, Presley? What do you enjoy? As how old are you? Ten. Ten. What do you enjoy the most about PNT? Hello. Um. Because you have because you have brothers. You have two brothers, right? So your your two brothers, how do y'all get along? You have an older brother and a younger brother? Yeah. So you're in the middle. So you sometimes get along most of the time not get along.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

That's the truth. So what do you like most? We talked about we're about to go back to school. What do you like most about being in school?

SPEAKER_02

Um being able to see my friends and learn more.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah. Do you have like some friends that you live around that you kind of hang out with?

SPEAKER_02

Not really.

SPEAKER_00

But just during school? Yeah, just during school. Yeah. Alright. So how what about you, Olivia? What's your favorite part of school?

SPEAKER_03

Um, I used to sit by my friends, but now I don't.

SPEAKER_00

But you're going to new school this year.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, I'm so ready.

SPEAKER_00

Are you ready?

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, I'm so ready to be in first grade.

SPEAKER_00

Right. And make new friends. Because you'll make new friends. You'll miss your old friends, but you'll make new friends, right? Alright, so baby, what about you? What are you looking forward to with school? Since you have your Kool-Aid now, you went and opened up a Kool Aid.

SPEAKER_03

Happy, happy, happy.

SPEAKER_00

You happy about kindergarten? Yep, yep, yep, yep, yep. What do you want to do in kindergarten?

SPEAKER_03

I want to go to the playground.

SPEAKER_00

Well, let's go to the playground. So, I mean, you gotta have priorities, right? There'll probably be a cool playground there. Have you seen your school yet?

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, we've seen the school a hundred times.

SPEAKER_00

So you liked it? Are you excited about it?

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, they have a there's a big playground, uh slide and the other slide over there in the rock climbing area. It's fun.

SPEAKER_00

Looks fun. It looks fun, don't it? Alright, so if you could do one thing before school starts, what would it be?

SPEAKER_03

Um what baby?

SPEAKER_00

What? Are you gonna make new friends? Okay. What about you?

SPEAKER_03

What did you say?

SPEAKER_00

If there's one thing you could do before school starts, what would it be?

SPEAKER_03

Going to my other friend's house.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah. What friend is that? Layton's Leighton. Yeah, I know your friends are leighting. What would be one thing you would do, Presley? If you could do anything, what'd you want to do before school starts? Go swimming. Go swimming. Where do you normally go swimming? Well, we don't normally go that much.

SPEAKER_02

So that's why I can't go.

SPEAKER_00

That's why you want to

Freedom To Worship Worldwide

SPEAKER_00

go. Let you go swimming. Alright. So, alright. Does anybody want to to say anything or share anything before we go? What baby? What you want to share, baby, before we go. Yeah, I love you guys. You love you? I love you too, baby. You're my mini me, I know, so that's why I can handle you. Because you're just like me. Tomboy and all. I love you. How about you, Olivia?

SPEAKER_03

Can't wait to be old enough and be alone in my own room.

SPEAKER_00

You're living for ten.

SPEAKER_03

I lived for sixteen.

SPEAKER_00

Oh, sixteen.

SPEAKER_03

I can't wait to have my own room. I'm gonna put no sister sign up.

SPEAKER_00

Oh.

SPEAKER_03

I'll go put no boy sign. I see bullshine, but no. Only Ma, not you.

SPEAKER_00

That's not kind.

SPEAKER_03

I don't want a girl. Sophia, come in.

SPEAKER_00

You just want your privacy.

SPEAKER_03

Yes. And a boy sign isn't like no boys allowed and no girls allowed.

SPEAKER_00

I understand. How about you, Presley? How's it at your house? Do you have a room? So you feel it, right?

SPEAKER_03

It's crazy with having a little sister. It's so bad. I would wish I had my own room now.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, but wouldn't you be lonely if you didn't have a little sister? Would you be lonely if you didn't have a big sister? Look, you heard her feelings.

SPEAKER_03

I just want my own room.

SPEAKER_00

I just want peace.

SPEAKER_03

Yes.

SPEAKER_00

Everybody wants that.

SPEAKER_03

Well, when this big old monkey came, he starts grabbing all my stuff and throwing it on the floor.

unknown

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

So Presley, I know. Jameson kind of gives you the cold shoulder sometimes when he's older. And he's he's a teenager now, so he's cool. Likes to go rob pieces. No, not like that at all. And he's a big soccer star. So, but Jetson, he he kind of thinks you're the the best. I've noticed. He kind of he he kind of thinks you're pretty special. He always has. He kind of looks up to you. Do you do you see that? No. You don't see the side of me thinking he bothers you, right? Yeah. So but he really does. Jensen still thinks you're pretty special. He thinks you're both pretty special, you and Jensen, but he uh but being the youngest, he just wants to be just like y'all.

SPEAKER_00

So And that's what we tell them about baby, because Wesley's the oldest. He's not here,

Favorite Play And Back-To-School Hopes

SPEAKER_00

but he's the oldest by a lot. And so these two want to be like Wesley and be with Wesley and hang out with Wesley, and Wesley wants nothing to do with them. He wants just his own space.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, I just want my own member to be nicer.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, but that's why. It's just because they're so used to being by themselves before the other ones start coming along and then they're jealous because you get attention, they don't get attention.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, r I really don't get attention that much.

SPEAKER_00

You don't think so? Yep. I think you get quite a bit.

SPEAKER_03

My mom was like, Wesley, you're so nice, thank you, thank you. Wesley can Wesley keeps giving stuff to mom what she wants, and Wesley keeps taking all our stuff and blaming on us.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah.

SPEAKER_03

For no reason.

SPEAKER_00

Well that's part of having siblings, yeah. That's the problem with siblings. Uncle Ricky was the same way. Can you imagine that?

SPEAKER_03

Yes.

SPEAKER_00

He was like a brathead.

SPEAKER_03

So Wesley's a brat now.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah. So what's the good part? What is it that you do love about your family?

SPEAKER_03

My love. Dixie.

SPEAKER_00

The dog.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

We love Dixie. Dixie's been around for a long time.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, she's getting way too old.

SPEAKER_00

She's probably about 13 or 14 years old.

SPEAKER_03

We haven't even celebrated her birthdays and give her some treats and stuff and Christmas.

SPEAKER_00

What about you, baby? What do you love about your family?

SPEAKER_03

Nothing.

SPEAKER_01

Well, that's baby all wrapped up in what about childhood honestly. Presley, what do you love about your family?

SPEAKER_00

Presley.

SPEAKER_03

I'll put that quick.

SPEAKER_00

I can tell you lots of things to love about you, but you have to say, Yeah, I mean you can't say that. You can't say that. Just what from your heart is what you love about your family. I mean, all of you are are very blessed that you have a mom and dad.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, I'm very blessed. I have a mom and dad. I will live on the road street if I didn't have a road.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah.

SPEAKER_03

I will live on the road street if I didn't have a mom and dad.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah. Wouldn't you what would what would you say, Olivia?

SPEAKER_03

I would be living on the road street without a mom and dad right now.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah. What do you love about your family, baby? Like, because we're talking about every one of you have or are blessed to have your mom and your dad in your life.

SPEAKER_03

Daddy, Wesley, Gunny, Ashley, Messiah. What about mom? Olivia, mommy, daddy, Bussy, Wesley.

SPEAKER_00

Mm-hmm.

SPEAKER_03

You already said Wesley.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, Uncle. And Auntie Jan, yeah.

SPEAKER_03

Brooke.

SPEAKER_00

So you're so blessed. I mean you have such a big family.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, we

Siblings, Privacy, And Family Love

SPEAKER_03

have a whole big family in our garage.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah.

SPEAKER_03

We have Uncle Brian. Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, that's just that's on the other side too. You have a huge family.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, like there's red and green, white.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah.

SPEAKER_03

She's a big thing. I'm Mexican on you. I'm Mexican on you.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah. All of you are half Mexican. You're what do you like about your other nationality? What do you love about your Mexican side of the family?

SPEAKER_03

I love them this much.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah. What about you, Presley?

SPEAKER_03

I love my aunts. They're very kind and loving to me.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah.

unknown

I love you.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah. What about you, baby? What do you like about your Mexican side?

SPEAKER_03

I love Auntie, Uncle Brian. Yeah. And Jennifer.

SPEAKER_00

Mm-hmm.

SPEAKER_03

And Jen. And Uncle Ricky.

SPEAKER_00

And Uncle Ricky, yeah. So And and Daddy and Mommy. You know what I like about your Mexican side of the family? The food.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah. I'll second that.

SPEAKER_03

Oh, Abelita makes you good food.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, Abelita sends me food over here, so it's like.

SPEAKER_03

No, that's actually our mom.

SPEAKER_00

That's that's your abelita.

SPEAKER_03

And our dad. Yes. You really have to say that in my part? How about you say it in Olivia's part?

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, it's all everybody's part. It's so good. Okay.

SPEAKER_03

I like when our our aunts make a puzzle. It's super good. I like it. Yeah, that's really good.

SPEAKER_00

Baby, what do you think? You wanna sing? What were y'all singing earlier? What were you singing earlier?

SPEAKER_03

Jelly Bean.

SPEAKER_00

What were you singing earlier? I cut jelly bean. It's not jelly bean, it actually is Billy Jean. You were singing Michael Jackson. Yeah, the Michael movie came out, and so they were watching.

SPEAKER_03

She told us already, she told us so soon.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah. So they're all on the Michael Jackson craze at the moment. I can remember Michael Jackson. I got my many, many years ago. Yeah. So all right, so we're gonna wrap it up. No, no, no, no, no, no.

SPEAKER_03

SPEAKER_01

We have lost control.

SPEAKER_00

Play volleyball?

SPEAKER_00

Yeah. What about you, baby? What's one thing you love to do right now at six years old? Whoa.

SPEAKER_03

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, you're right by the lake now. What about you, baby? What's your favorite thing at five years old to do right now? Alright. See you, Michael Jackson. Okay. It's not that. Okay.
