M3's own Sis. Audia shares a beautiful story with her granddaughter Presley.
A ten-year-old asked to skip kids’ church and walked into the baptism waters with a smile she couldn’t shake. That moment didn’t come out of nowhere—it grew from a quiet year of prayer, a Thanksgiving kitchen conversation, and simple questions about what it means to invite Jesus into your heart. We share the story from both sides: a grandmother watering a seed with daily intercession, and a child recognizing a holy nudge she couldn’t ignore.
Across the conversation, we unpack how to explain salvation to kids without pressure or jargon, using the ABCs as a guide while keeping the heart front and center. We talk candidly about reading the Bible when the pages get tough—Leviticus, laws, and long lists—and why staying the course matters. You’ll hear practical ideas for helping children meet Jesus in Scripture: start in the Gospels, discover Ruth, Esther, and Deborah, and look for Christ as the thread that runs from Genesis to Revelation. The goal isn’t to check boxes; it’s to know the Author.
Presley’s love for reading and journaling becomes a doorway into calling. We explore how God often nudges through interests already in a child’s life, and how simple habits—keeping a journal, dating entries, writing what arrives unplanned—can help them discern his voice. We celebrate the quiet signs of new life after baptism: a steadier joy, a gentle boldness, and a “glow” others notice. And we end with a warm challenge to families: pray for your kids by name, invite questions, and trust the Holy Spirit to do the deep work only he can do.

Thanksgiving Morning Setup
SPEAKER_00Hey y'all, welcome to Simple Assembly and Filter. I'm your health sister I am. Thank you so much for joining me on this journey today. So grab me a journey. Let's open the word and see what Jesus has to say today. Hey, welcome to Simple Scipleship Unfiltered. I'm your host, Sister Diana, and we have a very special edition of the podcast today because um Sister Audia is here with her granddaughter Presley. Yeah. Hi, Presley. Hi. Go morning. Good morning. It's early, isn't it? On your Thanksgiving day off. Yeah. So you uh so thank you for joining us today. Sister Audia um and I were talking, and she said, I really would like to do a podcast with Presley because she just had an experience with the Lord. Um, and I know that she was just on cloud nine, and I just want her to share that with you, and then she's gonna have a conversation uh with Presley to to just share it all with you. And it and it's it really just touched my heart. And and so uh Sister Audia, you lead the way. Okay.
SPEAKER_01Well, about this time last year, um, Thanksgiving, Presley came to stay with me for a few days. Um, I had asked her to help me prepare the meal, and um, she loves to cook, so we were we were both excited about teaching her things and and you cook from scratch.
SPEAKER_00So it's like I was like, I told my granddaughters last night, go watch them make pies because you won't ever see that.
SPEAKER_01So um, so I was really excited about it, and um, I don't remember what we were watching, but um we might have been watching the story of David or something like that. And um we started, I started talking to Presley about what it means to become a Christian. And um I explained a little bit of it to her, and I told her I wanted her when she felt ready to go home and talk to her parents, um, because I felt like they should be very much a part of this. Absolutely. And um, Presley has been raised in the church, she knows who Jesus is, and she's never been afraid or ashamed to to say something to someone and tell them Jesus loves them. So um so tell us a little bit about Presley.
SPEAKER_00Um, give us a little background on her.
SPEAKER_01Okay. Um Presley is 10 years old, and um she is the middle child, which I can relate to sometimes because even though I was the oldest originally, I became the middle child when my dad remarried. Um, so she has two brothers, and um she's a very, very good student. She's always winning awards for kindness and paying attention and all those wonderful things, being helpful. Um she has a real love for people, she has a real kindness in her heart. She never fails to compliment someone. And she has all those qualities I just love.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. So Presley, tell them tell me what's your your favorite part about school?
SPEAKER_02Um, probably towards the end of the day when we read a story.
SPEAKER_00And so why why is that your favorite? What what is what about that intrigues you?
SPEAKER_02I just like reading.
SPEAKER_00I saw when you woke up this morning you brought in your little like a journal and you were writing. Do you do like a diary or something, or do you just color or draw or whatever?
SPEAKER_02I like writing about like memories at like a diary.
SPEAKER_00That's so cool. That I used to keep one when I was a little kid, that's why I said. And you should get your grandma to get you one that's got that lock on it. Keep your brother. Um, that's awesome. So, what grade are you in? Fourth grade. Fourth grade. All right, so your favorite part is writing and reading and what else?
SPEAKER_02I like math also.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. I mean, you're just an all-around good student, right? What do you do outside of school? Um you play volleyball.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, I play volleyball.
SPEAKER_00Oh. Uh, what's your favorite position in that?
SPEAKER_02Maybe serving.
SPEAKER_00Really? Most people don't like to do the serving because you got to get it over the net without hitting the net, right? That's a hard part. That's hard sometimes. All right, well, awesome. All right, so go ahead, all you.
Talking Through Salvation With Kids
SPEAKER_01So um, anyways, uh, you know, then back in um, I don't know what it was, May maybe, I came to spend the weekend with the kids so that the her parents could have a little weekend getaway for their anniversary. And um uh their church is not real close to their house, and I'm a little sketchy on driving and places I don't know. Amen. I'm but I'm a subject. So I um oh, excuse me. Um, so I said we're just gonna do a Bible study at the house Sunday morning. So we sat there and the first thing I did was talk to them about salvation, um, what it means to be a Christian, how you go about becoming a Christian. I just did the excuse me, the ABCs of salvation, talking to them.
SPEAKER_00Honestly, did that make sense to you?
SPEAKER_02Oh yeah.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. And so what what is what does salvation mean to you? Uh like when you say I want to get saved, what is what does what would that mean to you? Um, I want to how does that make you feel about Jesus?
SPEAKER_02It makes me feel like I am letting Jesus in my heart. Yes, absolutely.
SPEAKER_00That's awesome. So how did it make you feel when you when you start talking about I want Jesus to come and live inside my heart? What did how did that make you feel though?
SPEAKER_02It made me feel like I just really wanted him to come to my heart and thank you.
SPEAKER_00Yeah.
SPEAKER_01Okay. So anyway, I kind of felt like even though I was talking to all three of them, Presley was getting this. The boys were, yeah, okay, okay. How much longer is this? Yeah. I mean, they were interested, but Presley seemed to be the one that was grabbing it.
SPEAKER_03Yeah.
SPEAKER_01And uh so she and I talked a little bit more after that. And then for her birthday, which was just a little over a couple of weeks ago, um, I bought her a new King James Bible and brought it to her because I had promised all of them I was going to be giving them new Bibles.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, so when you got your Bible, what'd you think?
SPEAKER_02I thought it was really nice.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, it makes you feel grown. I love it. I don't know. So have you read, have you started reading it?
SPEAKER_02Well, I'm still trying to figure out some of the words.
SPEAKER_00Right? That the New King James at least is a little easier than the regular King James, but um, but you'll get it. You'll get it.
SPEAKER_01So, and I told her, I said, I'd really like for you obviously to read the New Testament about Jesus, but I really want you to read about Esther and Ruth and Deborah and how these women love the Lord, and how these women were strong women living for the Lord. Yeah, tremendous women of faith. We we see that. And so I wanted her to see because so much in the Bible, and you're gonna see this, is about the men. There were 5,000 men. They they counted the men when they fed the 5,000. They didn't count the women and the children, they counted how many men were there. Uh, women did not have a big place in the church in the beginning, but you will see through biblical history that there were women that played a huge part in in the life the lives of people. So um I wanted her to grab on to that, and uh, but I also wanted her to see that God loves you as much as any man. I mean, truthfully, he you are as important to him in heaven. Jesus doesn't say, okay, women over here, men over here, kids back there. You know, it's everybody is there. We're all equal in his sight. And salvation is for everyone. But you know what?
Reading The Bible And Finding Jesus
SPEAKER_00He especially loves children. Yes. He especially loves kids. You can in scripture he tells you to don't don't not allow the kids to come into me because that is the kingdom of heaven, such as the little children, you know, and such is the kingdom of heaven. So don't ever be afraid to just start talking to him and he'll hear you, you know. I mean, it's like it sounds weird, but if you start talking to God, he does hear you and he does listen. And when you're ready, he will talk back. You will hear his voice, and you'll hear his voice, and that's the cool thing about it is the reason why you read the scripture is so that you can find out who he is. Because he's inside the word that he is the word. So when you start reading the word, you're gonna say, Well, there he I see that that makes sense. That that's cool that he did that. That's cool that he said that because then you understand his personality, you know. You know, when you read a book, I just want to say this because you're a big reader, but when you read a story in a book, it's written in a way that you can then figure out who's the good guy, who's the bad guy, who's the good person, right? Same thing with scripture. You're gonna find it's a book of Jesus from the very beginning all the way through the ending and revelation. It's a book of Jesus, and so you're gonna find Jesus. That's what I would tell you, you know, when you're starting to read the Bible, find him in every part of scripture, Old Testament and New Testament. That's the cool part. It's like a treasure hunt.
SPEAKER_01You know, one of the things, especially when I read a part of the Bible that I'm not real comfortable reading, and I've I've Diana and I have talked about this with Brother Ernie. He's been asked challenging us to read the Bible in a year. Yeah, and I was like, okay, God, you're gonna have to open my understanding on all these laws and all these bagots, you know, because those are hard for me to get through.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, I think everybody always starts the Bible to read the Bible in a year, and um, and then they get to Leviticus and the laws, and they're like, I'm out, you know, because it's like this is so boring, and this is I'm just out. Um, but we have committed, we're gonna publicly say we're committed to reading the word all the way through. Uh, I think it, I think he told us, Sister Patty said, if we do eight chapters a day, yeah, we can get done. Right. By Thanksgiving. By Thanksgiving, yeah. So anyway, so that's our challenge. But but not only are you challenged, because I can honestly say I've never read through it all, you know, all the way from the beginning to the end. And I've been doing this since I was nine. I've been, you know, I would read stories and I would read, and I love to study the words. So I like get in there and start looking for a topic or just looking at some, or if I start reading it for a year, then all of a sudden I'm like, well, let me stop here and go find this. I know that's over here, you know. So I go on this little rabbit trail and start looking at over here, and I'm like, uh, I should have, I can't just stay focused on it. We gotta stay focused on you.
SPEAKER_01I know. And and this is a person with ADD.
SPEAKER_00That's the truth. That is the truth. Yeah.
SPEAKER_01So and it it's really cropping up lately. So yeah, so I may have to uh get you to whack me on the back of the head or something.
SPEAKER_00So so after you did your Bible study, what happened?
SPEAKER_01So after that, um Tandra and Jonathan, her parents, they came home. Um and I sat down and I talked to them. I said the kids went had been going back in the bedroom or something, and I said, Hey, I need to talk to you for a minute. Um, I really talked to the kids about salvation today when we did our Bible study, and Presley had questions and was really and I said, I really feel like she is ready more so than the boys to come to Jesus.
SPEAKER_00Because here's the thing is that parents should play the role of the nurturer into that, right? I mean they they they should, you know, the parents should should pray over the situation and kind of just guide the child into doing that. Yeah. How did did your parents say anything to you after Honey left? Um, not really because have they said anything to you about salvation or church or not really no. Not encouraging you to to become saved or talk to you about being being saved?
SPEAKER_02Um, I'm pretty sure it was like kind of late.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
SPEAKER_00So how did that make you feel when you first heard honey talking about that? How did you feel in in your mind about it? Did it make sense?
SPEAKER_02Kinda.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. And then like so a seed was sown. Yeah. And so a year later, what happens?
The Push To Read Scripture Fully
SPEAKER_01Um, I get a text from her mom and said, Presley asked to go to the big church with us today. And she was there a reason?
SPEAKER_02I just had this feeling I really wanted to go. I don't know why.
SPEAKER_00Had you ever done that before?
SPEAKER_02Um, I don't know.
SPEAKER_01Uh-huh.
SPEAKER_00Okay, go ahead.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, she said she never wants to go to big church, she always goes to children's church. And um, she said she just insisted to go to big church this morning, so we let her. And she said then she turned around and said, I want to get baptized.
SPEAKER_00Why what what made you all of a sudden want to do that?
SPEAKER_02I just like it was like a day where everyone was getting baptized baptized, and I just had this feeling I really wanted to get baptized.
SPEAKER_00Oh, that's awesome. So what tell us what happened? Can you do that?
SPEAKER_02So we I went to get so I went to get dressed to go get baptized. When I got there, um everyone was like done, and then I was like the last one. I went to go and so I got baptized and after that.
SPEAKER_00So did they ask you about your relationship with Jesus?
SPEAKER_02Yes.
SPEAKER_00And and what did you say?
SPEAKER_01Did you ask Jesus to come into your heart? Mm-hmm. Okay. Yeah. And to forgive you of your sins? Yes. Okay. Yeah.
SPEAKER_00That's a scary moment because what happens is you're you're one, you're about to go in the water. You don't know what's gonna happen. But two, everybody's looking at you, you know. And so we're like, ah. So I remember when I first got baptized, uh, we went to Lake Grey Hubbard in this old dirty, murky water, and and we had to like walk down into this miry clay dirt that was down in there and and got baptized, and it was just a few people family, you know. Um, but how did that make you feel when you when they asked you to make your profession of faith when they said is Jesus in your heart? How did you begin to feel?
SPEAKER_02I began to feel like something like my heart was sort of beating. Yeah, right, right.
SPEAKER_00That's cool. And so you got dunked, right? So what how did you feel when you came up?
SPEAKER_02Like I had a small my face like the whole time.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, that's awesome. You should you should go down in the water one way and come up another way. Why? Because your life is forever changed. You may, when you get older, get re-baptized or get baptized in Jesus' name, or you might whatever that you do when you when you get older, you may redo that, but you don't have to because that that Jesus saw that. Jesus was in that moment with you. And and so, Sister, tell tell her what happens after that.
Parents’ Role And Planting Seeds
SPEAKER_01Okay, so when you go down in the water, okay, there's what, and we've been studying this, and it may not make a lot of sense to you right now, but there's like a circumcision, all your old sins, all the things that have gone wrong, done wrong, even though you're only 10, so you haven't done too many terrible things. I'm pretty sure. All those times you were, you know, yelling at your brothers, all those things, you know. Um, but all those things, you're down in the water, and God cuts them away. They're gone. He's forgotten them. Jesus took them all away. And your name, when you come up, your name is written in the book of life. That means one day when he calls us home, you're gonna go. That means you're gonna be there with Jesus. All of us with for all of us, and that has been, I'll I'll just tell you this from last year when we started talking, I have prayed every day for your salvation and your brothers, but also but yours. I have prayed every day that you would come to know Jesus. And so for me, when I'm gonna get all choked up here. So for me, when your mom sent me that text, I was like, oh my gosh, thank you, God. You answered my prayer. You answered my prayer. So you have been the most special, and I've prayed for all of them. I've played for Ryan, I prayed for Will, I prayed for Kate. But there was something about you that God laid on my heart that you gotta pray for this girl to come to know Jesus. You gotta pray. And so it's been my prayer every day.
SPEAKER_00So when you after you got saved, did you tell any of your friends?
SPEAKER_02Well, it was during the break, so I So you haven't got to yet? Not yet.
SPEAKER_00Oh. So how so what are you doing now? How do you feel now? It's been almost a week, right? What four three or four days? Okay. How do you feel now?
SPEAKER_02I just feel kind of different.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. Yeah. You know, I just I love I love the innocence of it, right? But I love that, you know, scripture says you're forever marked as a child of God. You are. You are that he sees you. You're you're marked, you're his. And nobody can take you away from him. Nobody. So life can sometimes get hard, right? When you start getting older and you start growing up, things, things will happen, things will not always be easy, and we're not gonna sugarcoat it, right? Yeah, it's not always getting easy.
SPEAKER_01You can already see how how your older brother, who's becoming a teenager, has gotten a little rebellious, a little mouthy, you know. Yeah, yeah. And that that's just part of growing up. You start pushing out and trying to finding who you really are.
Presley Chooses Big Church And Baptism
SPEAKER_00But the thing is, is that in doing that, Jesus is always now gonna be with you. Because now he doesn't just you didn't just profess him as savior and all of that. He comes and lives inside of you in the form of the Holy Spirit. So when you go down in that water, not only is your sins forgiven, but you're raised up to this new life, but the Holy Spirit comes and lives inside of you. That's his spirit, and he's with you always. So no matter how hard life gets, no matter how alone in this life you're gonna feel sometimes. Jesus is always gonna be with you from now on. The Bible says, What's the straw to you? He will never forsake us or leave us. Never leave us or forsake us. And so you always and Alexa's trying to pop in too. So yeah. But isn't that amazing that that you you carry him now? Excuse me. Alexa off. So now you carry him inside of you, right? So when you talk when you start reading and you're starting to write, I I s and I'll honestly I see this for you. Yeah, is that that you're gonna you're gonna hear his voice and you've already been hearing him, you just didn't know it was him. Because ideas come to your mind when you're writing, and you just start writing it down. And it wasn't something that you thought about writing, it just came to you to write, right? And that's what I see for you. And so I see that God's gonna use you as a writer, and so keep that little journal, keep you need to get her some more journals. Oh, yeah. And and um, and actually, I made two on our website. I'm gonna push the printify page. Ministry merch on Prentify. But you can go and you can get other journals, keep them with you because when he begins to talk to you, just write it down, just date it and write it down. So he's he's gonna be he is going to start using you in your writing. Okay, my phone is way over there. Oh so you go grab it over there, the red one. Yeah. Sorry y'all didn't turn my phone off. Um, but you know, I I think the amazing thing is God is faithful in his word and that he will water that seed. You know, you're yeah, you're you're not always gonna know that that God is gonna do it, but you by faith you plant the seed, and the Bible says Holy Spirit begins to water it, and that's what you were doing when you were praying for her. And so it's so very exciting. Um, anything else you want to add?
SPEAKER_01I I do want to remind you, Presley. Um, a couple of years ago, y'all came to when we were holding a service, and you were there and someone spoke over you prophetically. And um they said, you have a gift. And that's something that we'll talk about more, you and I, and talk about with your parents. There are gifts once you become a Christian, once you accept Jesus, there are gifts that He they that the Holy Spirit gives you. And I don't know what your gifts are gonna be, but I know that He's gonna do great things through you. There's gonna be something really special in your life. I can see that.
SPEAKER_00Is there anything else you want to add, Presley? Well, we're excited for you. Yes, yeah, we thank you for coming and sharing your story. Make sure you go and tell all your friends about Jesus. Yeah. Yeah, because you think of this. Anybody that that you lead to Jesus gets to be with you in eternity. So make sure it's somebody you really like, you know.
SPEAKER_01Even though you may not like him, you still need to tell them about Jesus. You still tell them about Jesus.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, but anyway.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, people are gonna see a change in you. And you were already a sweet, lovable little girl, but I think they're gonna see a special glow about you. And they're gonna want to know what it is and how can they get it.
SPEAKER_00Right. And what's your answer gonna be? Why are you glowing? It's hard, isn't it? Yeah, it's hard to put it in words. Well, do you you're carrying Jesus now, and he is the light. The Bible says he is the light, so now you're carrying the light. That's what we're supposed to, that's why we got those shirts that say glow for Jesus. All right, well, we're proud of you.
SPEAKER_01Yes, we are. We're very proud of you. I was so excited when I saw that, and I just I really did. I just was like, thank you, thank you, thank you. You know.
SPEAKER_00All right, so now you start praying for your brothers, yeah, so that they have the same experience and feeling, right? Even when you don't want to pray for them sometimes, right? All right, anything else?
SPEAKER_01No, I think we covered it.
